Power open or close is not working, however when you are manually closing it and it gets close to the latch it does take over and power latch it (assuming two different systems) I recently took my 2018 EXL van in twice within a few months because the power tailgate wouldn't work If there's still an issue there has to be a problem with the automatic tailgate closer causing this issue
